Data collection. Averages (mean, median, mode) and range. Reading and constructing charts and graphs. Beginning critical interpretation of data.
NC outcomes (paraphrased)
Pupils should be taught to:
- Describe, interpret and compare observed distributions of a single variable
- Construct and interpret appropriate tables, charts, and diagrams (frequency tables, bar charts, pie charts, scatter graphs)
- Calculate and use mean, median, mode, and range
- Use these to compare distributions
- Read graphs critically — recognising misleading representations
